The Meadows School
Submitted by head coach Matt Albert:
"The Mustang middle school program had its best season in program history last year, with 3 teams qualifying for Nationals, 2 of them finishing in the top 25, and our A team defeating the #1 team in the country during prelims. We also took our program on the road for our first out-of-state tournament other than MSNCT, and we defeated 3 top-20 teams at Northwestern. Many of those players from last year have moved on to 9th grade now, which makes this year's roster considerably younger. |
Even though they're young, the Mustangs have a ton of enthusiasm and are eager to replicate the success of their peers. They know it'll take some time if they're going to reach that level, but they're still going to give it their best shot in the meantime.
We're very excited this year for several reasons. Our A-team is filled with veterans who have been pushed to improve by those current 9th graders. Many of these veterans have performed well on the national stage for the past 3 years. They also feature a highly talented transfer student who is poised to become our program's next literature specialist.
Additionally, our B-F teams all contain a slew of plucky 6th graders and a small crew of some highly improved 7th graders who are poised to make their first real impact on the program this year. Reaching the levels of past Mustang teams is a tall order right now, but this group is ready as ever to go to work."
